NOTE: Achim Moeller, Managing Principal of The Lyonel Feininger Project LLC, New York – Berlin, has confirmed the authenticity of this work, which is registered under no. 1893-02-20-24. A certificate of authenticity accompanies the work. Additional information was provided by Achim Moeller, The Lyonel Feininger Project LLC, New York – Berlin. In 1949 Frederick S. Wight (1902–1986) painted a portrait of Lyonel Feininger which currently resides in the collection of the National Portrait Gallery, Washington, D.C. (NPG.80.5). The present lot depicts houses in the village of Kromsdorf, three miles northeast of Weimar in Thuringia, Germany. A related work on paper from 1913, also titled Kromsdorf, is in the collection of the Harvard Art Museums/BuschReisinger Museum, gift of Julia Feininger, BR63.1399. Condition Report: Presents well. Toning to the sheet overall, the extent of which is apparent at edges. Small area of discoloration to left edge in lower left corner. Pinholes in corners. Edges are reinforced with tape; not visible when framed. Sheet is hinged to window mat at three points along edges of verso and framed under acrylic. Framed Dimensions 18 X 14.75 Inches
