No. 1199. Signed by George Partridge. Rising Sun vignette. The backs continued to use Thomas Fleet's Pine Tree vignette that was seen on both the 1776 and 1778 Codfish issues. The face plate was newly engraved by Paul Revere. PMG comments "Stains; Annotations." There are a couple of minor tone spots on the back and the pencil annotation on the back is an old dealer code. In our November sale, we sold a PMG Extremely Fine 40, which had unsightly mounting and stains, for $780. This evening's offering is of a far higher caliber and it once resided in the Eric P. Newman collection.
