MACHINE AGE THOR "DOUBLE-BENEFIT HEALTH LAMP"
Rare Machine Age medical sun lamp device by Thor; the same division of the Hurley Machine Company which also produced the infamous "Juvenator" Excerciser machine. According to the Instruction Book, this device could stimulate blood flow, increase the action of the "ductless glands" and relax the muscles using a combination of UV and Infra-Red rays which simulated the light of the summer sun at high noon ("The sun never sets in the home that has a Thor Double-Benefit Health Lamp")! Instruction manual, (2) pairs of goggles, and "Noon Sun-Carbons" in original box included. C. 1920's-1930's. Dimensions: H 58" x W 14.5" x D 17.5" Condition: Not tested; cord frayed. Apparently missing mesh screen. Some pitting to metal reflector, minor losses to paint finish on base; overall light wear consistent with age and use.
