MADOM - Josep Maria Magem - Reading floor lamp - Aluminium, Lacquer, Metal, Steel

[ translate ]

Lamp designed by Josep Maria Magem in 1969 for the Madom brand.

It is a robust steel or iron lamp, with a white lacquered base and chrome top. This is important, since there is another completely chrome model.

What is most striking is the flex, folded in such a way that it passes through a piece of aluminum twice. By moving the flex along the inside of said piece, the height and extension of the focus is regulated.

The switch, also made of aluminum, is, in turn, a light intensity regulator.

It has normal signs of use over the years, such as patina on the chrome parts and some stains or scratches on the lacquer.

The cable and plug appear original, so they may need to be replaced at some point. Works at 220 V.

In 2017, the figure of Magem was recovered from oblivion, thanks to the exhibition about the designer that was held at the Museu d'Art of Sabadell, his hometown.

Two years later, the Barcelona Design Museum incorporated a table lamp, NA 3972, into its permanent exhibition.
