A French marble inkwell. This piece features an acorn top finial, a beaded rim, and a reticulated colonnade form the bodice. Branded foundary mark to the underside: From the Maison Thiebaut, Paris. This firm was one of the most famous bronze foundries in the world during the nineteenth century. The Thiebaut brothers won several awards in exhibitions and they were considered a premier foundry.
