Collection of eight various pins, "wings", and other keepsakes owned by Major Gen. CALEB VANCE HAYNES. Included in the grouping is: fine enameled "Wings Over Britain" pin, 2.25
in. wide, maker marked on reverse; silver "Quiet Birdmen" pin, 1" wide with screw back; bronze medallion from the "International Shrine of the Birdmen", with case; two silver pinback enameled wings "NAAFW" from the National Association of Air Force Women"; a pair of blue enameled cuff links marked: "Westins Stockholm"; and a small Air Force Aid Association lapel pin. Consigned directly by a linear descendant, with our letter of provenance. Six pieces. CALEB VANCE HAYNES (1895-1966) was a U.S. Air Force major general and one of the most important and talented military aviators and commanders of World War II. Haynes organized the Assam-Burma-China Ferry Command and evacuated Burma with the Chinese and RAF. He then went to China to organize and command the Bomber Command of the China Air Task Force under Gen. Claire Chennault. He later returned to India to organize the India Air Task Force of the 10th Air Force.
