MANNER OF FRANCISCO DE ZURBARAN Portrait of Cardinal Niccolò Albergati (circa 1637-1639) indistinclty signed and dated 'Antonio...' (lower left) oil on canvas 84 x 56 cm Niccolò Albergati was born in 1372 and died in 1443. He was a prelate of the Roman Catholic Church and an Italian Carthusian. Albergati was the bishop of Bologna from 1417 until his death, and also served as a papal diplomat to France and England in 1422-1423. His beatification was awarded official confirmation from Pope Benedict XIV in 1744.
