Description

THE PRODUCT IS SOLD IN OUR NEW PREMISES IN SICKLA, OPEN FROM MARCH 18

Seat height approx. 42 cm, height approx. 73 cm, width 79 cm.

History:
In an interview with a Knoll historian, Marcel Breuer described how he began experimenting with bent steel pipe when he was at the Bauhaus school.

“At the time, I was quite idealistic. 23 years old. I befriended a young architect and I bought my first bike. I learned to ride a bike and talked to this young guy and told him that the bike seems like a perfect production because it hasn't changed in the last twenty, thirty years. It is still the original bicycle form. He said: “Have you ever seen how they do those parts? How do they bend the handlebars? You'd be interested because they bend the steel tubes like macaroni... I realized that the inflection had to go further. It should only be bent without welding points on it so it can also be chromed in parts and put together. That's how the first Wassily was born. I was a little afraid of criticism myself. I didn't tell anyone I was doing these experiments actually”.Show more
