MARCEL DELMOTTE | ATLAS

[ translate ]

Property from a Private Collection
MARCEL DELMOTTE
1901 - 1984
ATLAS

signed M Delmotte (lower right); signed Marcel Delmotte, titled and inscribed Charleroi on the reverse
oil on paper laid down on board
painting: 32.7 by 24.8cm., 12⅞ by 9¾in.
framed: 46.2 by 38.1cm., 18¼ by 15in.

Condition Report:
The sheet has been fully laid down on to the backing board. Inspection under ultra violet light reveals a thick, milky varnish which makes close inspection largely impossible, however there are some fine lines of retouching in the lower half of the work which are visible. There are some lines of craquelure across the surface, and some evidence of scattered paint shrinkage. There is some frame abrasion to the lower and right edges, with some associated paint loss which is most significant at the lower edge. There are a small number of tiny nicks and flecks of paint loss at the extreme corners. The work appears to be in fairly good overall condition.

Provenance:
Private Collection, Belgium

Thence by descent to the present owners
