Condition Report:
The canvas has been relined and is securely attached to a keyed wooden stretcher.
The paint surface is stable.
Inspection under ultra violet light reveals a heavy layer of even varnish which makes the surface quite difficult to read. However, scattered retouching is visible, including bands of retouching along the extreme framing edges and a circa 40cm vertical line in the woman's right arm, possibly addressing an old tear. With the exception of the latter, the main figure appears to be virtually untouched.
This work presents well and is in good overall condition.

Presented in a decorative gilt frame.
