Condition report: Very good to excellent; 99% original surface paint. Minor crazing, and edge wear. Very bright color palette. Displays beautifully!

Conservation/Restoration: The painting was recently re-stretched, (new stretcher) re-lined, & cleaned by a master conservator. $2500.00 USD –The fee.

Frame: Housed in a contemporary Stanford White style hand carved gilt wood frame:

STANFORD WHITE:
Stanford White (November 9, 1853 – June 25, 1906) was an American architect. He was also a partner in the architectural firm McKim, Mead & White, the frontrunner among Beaux-Arts firms. He designed many houses for the rich as well as numerous civic,institutional, and religious buildings. His design principles embodied the 'American Renaissance'. In 1906, White was shot and killed by the mentally unstable millionaire Harry Kendall Thaw, who had become obsessed about White's previous relationship with Thaw's wife, actress Evelyn Nesbit. This led to a court case which was dubbed 'The Trial of the Century' by contemporary reporters.

ARTIST BIO:
Marguerite Pearson studied at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School and worked privately with Edmund Tarbell from 1922-27.

She also studied with several teachers in design, landscape and illustration. She became best well known for her floral still lifes and interiors with figures. Pearson had been confined to a wheelchair since contracting polio in her teen years.

Pearson worked as a magazine and news illustrator before turning to painting full time in 1922. By the mid-40's Pearson became quite financially successful, and her works were reproduced as prints. Beside her intense studies, Pearson belonged to many arts and artists groups. In 1941 she moved to Rockport MA, which she had been visiting in the summer since 1920. Her popularity was sustained by continual positive criticism and she was in great demand as a teacher and juror. Pearson's balanced composition and precise observation makes her work enduring with life and light.
