First edition with the following first issue hallmarks: pg. 9 with "Huck Decided to Leave," pg. 13 and pg. 57 with misprint "with the was;" The date "1884" copyright page with "1885" printed on title page, frontispiece bust of Twain with "Heliotype Printing Co." in lower left. With gift inscription dated August 1885.

Condition: Worn condition, foxing throughout, owner's name in ink on front free endpaper, front board detached but still connected to cloth of spine, wear to corners, two pages of front endpapers detached, light crayon marks to endpapers, wear to crowns, chipping to lower and higher number page edges, some closed tears, areas of fading to covers
