MARLIN MODEL 39M ARTICLE II .22 LEVER ACTION RIFLE

[ translate ]

SERIAL NUMBER: 7186973. BARREL: 20". CALIBER: .22 LR. MANUFACTURED: 1971. The Marlin Model 39M Article II is a highly collectible, limited-edition rimfire carbine manufactured exclusively in 1971. This special firearm was produced to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the National Rifle Association (NRA), with its unique "Article II" designation directly referencing the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution. While Marlin released two versions for this centennial celebration, the "M" designation denotes the carbine model, which is significantly scarcer than its rifle counterpart. Records indicate that Marlin produced only about 3,824 units of the 39M Article II, making it a highly sought-after prize for rimfire enthusiasts and Marlin collectors today. Distinguished by its classic styling, the carbine features a 20-inch tapered octagonal barrel chambered to fire .22 Short, .22 Long, and .22 Long Rifle cartridges from its full-length tubular magazine. The firearm is built with a traditional straight-grip stock and matching forearm carved from smooth, premium American walnut. Adding to its distinct aesthetic, the rifle breaks away from standard blued hardware by incorporating a solid brass forend cap and a deeply curved brass buttplate. Like other historic Marlin 39 configurations, it utilizes a convenient takedown design, allowing the rifle to be easily separated into two halves via a single prominent thumb screw on the right side of the receiver. The defining characteristic of the Article II is its commemorative ornamentation, which explicitly celebrates the heritage of American firearms ownership. The right side of the blued receiver features an embedded, high-relief brass medallion showcasing an eagle, crossed firearms, and the explicit inscription "THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS". The barrel is stamped with special roll-markings highlighting the 1871-1971 centennial dates. Because many of these rifles were purchased as presentation pieces and kept strictly as "closet queens," finding an example in pristine, unfired condition with its original factory box and promotional paperwork represents the pinnacle of Marlin rimfire collecting. CONDITION: Excellent. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. Operates normally. C&R 27-88
