Matilde Poulat (c. 1900–1960) was a Mexican jewelry designer and silversmith who founded her workshop, MATL, in Mexico City in 1934. Trained in art and design at the San Carlos Academy of Fine Arts, she drew inspiration from pre-Columbian art and Mexican folk traditions, creating richly ornamented silver jewelry featuring turquoise, coral, and amethyst. Her distinctive designs often incorporated intricate repoussé and delicate stonework, setting her work apart from the modernist silver designs of her contemporaries in Taxco. The name MATL, derived from a Nahuatl word for water, became her registered trademark.
