Destination Moon, a collaborative creation by MB&F and L'Epée 1839, embodies the nostalgic essence of a torpedo-shaped rocket from childhood fantasies. Its design, meticulously crafted by L'Epée, mirrors the fundamental engineering principles of an actual spaceship. In this remarkable timepiece, the power source mimics that of a rocket: it emanates from the base. The oversized winding crown, positioned at the base serves as its power source. Just as a rocket's control systems are situated above the power supply, this clock features a vertical regulator beneath the time display. Additionally, a time-setting knob crowns the movement. To shield the animated balance of the regulator from cosmic radiation (and inquisitive hands), a nearly invisible mineral glass panel provides protection. The time is elegantly conveyed through large, white numerals displayed on stainless steel disks. And then there's Neil, a delightful space-suited figurine crafted from solid silver and stainless steel, which infuses a childlike wonder by bridging humanity with the mechanical marvel of Destination Moon. The current lot is a new old stock example of this whimsical limited edition series of 50 that will be sure to spark the childlike wonder of space travel for any collector.
