Folio (21 7/16 x 13 7/8 in.; 545 x 353mm). Frontispiece plate, letterpress dedication and descriptive text leaves, 27 tinted lithograph plates (including title-page) after Mecham, on 17 leaves; scattered foxing, not affecting plates, some toning, one or two closed marginal tears repaired. Disbound, as issued, and into original purple cloth portfolio, covers ruled and decoratively stamped in blind, upper board gilt-lettered; rebacked, covers unevenly sunned, some soiling, corners bumped.

First edition. Mecham joined the 52nd Madras Native Infantry on the 9th of March 1849 at Vellore. The Siege of Lucknow was a prolonged defense of the Residency within the city of Lucknow during the Indian Rebellion of 1857.
