MEDIEVAL BRONZE SAINT PETER
Ca. AD 1000 - 1200. A cast bronze figure of Saint Peter seated with the body facing forward and the head slightly turned. His mature face is framed by thick, curled hair and a full beard, with pronounced brows, a straight nose and deep-set eyes. He wears a long tunic beneath a mantle draped over the shoulders, with incised folds descending across the chest and gathering in broad horizontal pleats over the lap. His left hand is raised to his chest, holding a key. The sandalled feet are visible beneath the hem of the garment. Size: 90mm x 30mm; Weight: 85g Provenance: Private collection; Acquired in the mid 1980s - late 1990s From the family collection of Mr. S.A.
