MENIER CHOCOLATE - c. 1930

Rare original lithographed advertising poster affixed to its original zinc plate.
36.2 x 19.3 cm. “Based on a design by EDIA – Paris”

Featuring the Menier little girl from the Art Deco-style Edia designs by an unnamed O. Gus (trademark registered in 1929)

In fine original condition. -
Colors are well preserved despite slight fading from sunlight.
Minor paper losses at all four corners and scattered slight surface imperfections, with no major impact on the visual appearance.

Menier, founded in 1816 in Paris by Jean Antoine Brutus Menier, began as a pharmacy before turning to chocolate.
Established in Noisiel as early as 1825, the company launched the first industrially produced chocolate bar in 1836.
Having become a major player in the chocolate industry in the 19th century, the company declined after 1945 before being acquired by large conglomerates, though it remained an iconic brand.

Created by EDIA: An advertising label for the combined firms of Établissements Lévy and Neurdein, leading postcard publishers (LL and ND) that merged in 1922 at 44 Rue Letellier in Paris.
It was under this entity that the famous Art Deco redesign of Chocolat Menier was orchestrated.
