MESSENGER AND SONS ATTRIBUTED BRONZE AND BRASS PAIR OF ARGAND LAMPS, gilt finish to decoration, each being double-armed and having vertical Classical urn fonts, brass arms and burner tubes with complete burners, ornate stem with three standing storks with wings spread, stepped base with overlay decoration, and square weighted base. Each fitted with cast-brass font rings which hold engraved coffin-form prisms, period free-blown and engraved baluster-from chimney-shades. Messenger & Sons. Circa 1830. 18" HOA, 14 1/2" WOA, 5" SQ base. Shades: 7" to 7 1/2" H, 2 5/8" D fitters.
Lamps undamaged with some expected scattered wear; two shades with a small chip to the fitter; some prisms having some flaking.
