METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART: TWO GOLD CROSS PENDANTS
Estimated gross weight 55.6 grams, 14k gold, with maker's mark, measures 2 1/2 x 1 1/2 in.
This Cross pendant is an inspired replica of the second Cyprus treasure excavated in 1902 of the byzantine Empire in the mid VI century to the mid-VII century. The treasure was most likely buried in 648 during the Arabs invasion. The original cross was cast in solid gold and hung on a chain decorated with other elements. The original was gifted to The Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1917 by J. Pierpont Morgan.

Metal stamped and tested for 14k gold; superficial wear in the form of minor scratches; overall good condition.
