MG - TD - 1952

[ translate ]

On 17 April 1990 I bought an MG from California to restore, it was imported on 3 April 1990. This MG TD dates from 30 June 1952, colour red, 2-door convertible, 4 cylinders, 1250 cc, petrol, weight 740 kg, odometer reading 10913, chassis no. 1965793846. Then the car was disassembled down the last bolt and reassembled after treatment or renewal. Renewed; brakes, cylinders, lines, all tyres, front and rear bumper, battery, wiring, headlights and various lights, the chrome plating of various things, seats, sofas and doors in beige leather. Old woodwork removed and new oak added, with regards to the entire car including the car. A completely new bow hood with frame 2 bow, tonneau cover, bow side screen set with covers in beige canvas present. Opening the box reveals that the red woodwork of the 2 bow has affected the canvas. Perhaps this can still be resolved. . . The top has never been mounted because we don’t prefer to do so, a convertible is an open vehicle. Engine and gearbox, starter and dynamo revised. Subsequently, the car was sprayed in the colour green. The first appraisal took place on 6 August 1993 and showed that the restoration I carried out together with my daughter (and a lot of care) over a period of about 3 years resulted a perfect car that is as good as new! The car was inspected at the Dutch vehicle authority (RDW) in order to request a registration, which was issued on 13 October 1993 (DH-65-33) . After this, the car stood still and was cherished in a closed indoor room until 19 July of 2019. Make the car ready to drive again by renewing fuel pump and spark plugs, also add 2 new blue license plates so it can hit the road. The car starts well and the engine runs perfectly and drives great but still needs to be run in. It has only travelled 32 miles. Again inspected and valued on 23 July 2019. The appraiser could not believe that the car was restored 26 years ago because it is still in such a good condition, he would have believed it if I had told him that the restoration was done 2 years ago. End result: still a perfect car! ! ! The car is in a town near Gouda, the Netherlands.
