MICHELIN - c.1950
“Tractor Tires”
Original single-sided enamel advertising plaque in the shape of a coat of arms with folded edges. 61.5 x 45.5 cm. “Art France - Luynes. R.C. Clermont-Ferrand”
-In fantastic condition-
This enamel sign stands out for its spectacular vibrancy and an absolutely perfect, original mirror-like sheen, as intact as on the first day.
The pigments produce vivid, deep, luminous colors.
It retains its four original brass eyelets at the mounting corners.
There are barely two tiny, insignificant localizations of wear on the very outer edges of the lower corners—a minuscule detail that in no way detracts from the perfection of this exceptional piece.
Depicts the Bibendum on his tractor.
In 1886, André Michelin and his brother Édouard Michelin took over the family business, Barbier-Daubrée. Clermont-Ferrand, May 28, 1889: the company’s name was changed to “Michelin et Cie.”
