MID-20TH C. YACHT BELL WITH MAST BRACKET FROM MAINE
Yacht's Bell from the "Tanaquill", a Schooner from Cundy's Harbor, Maine, owned by Richard L. Hatch, with the boat's name in raised letters, retaining the original mast mounting brackets, bronze clapper, roughly 12" tall overall, 13 1/2" deep including brackets, 9 1/2" diam. bell, patinated, sharp ring.
The wood hulled two-mast schooner, with backup diesel motor, was designed and built in 1950 by John Alden (1884-1962), of Dorchester, Mass., famous for the "Malabar" designs in the offshore racing scene.
