MIM, Modern Italian Furniture, is an Italian company in the furniture sector which in the 50s and 60s made a strong contribution to the diffusion of Italian design and production innovation.
Founded in 1957 by the Fazioli brothers, a Roman family already present on the market with a small furniture factory, MIM quickly became one of the most important national groups.
The protagonists of the new venture include Ico Parisi, artistic director of the company, his wife Luisa and other personalities involved by Parisi himself such as Munari, di Carli, Frattini. The furniture arrangement is enriched with works by artists including Novelli and Fontana. Parisi's experience and his autonomy of thought outside conventional architectural professional schemes are responsible for the launch of a work and business plan which, beyond the innovations of the production processes of furniture production, intends to develop new design ideas combined with the integration of the arts, a different relationship between architecture and visual arts.
