Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue and White Porcelain Candle holder. Potted unto a candle holders shape stand, tall spherical shaped, with conical tall necks supporting the shallow bowl on top, elevated from a round dish with flat cavetto rising a steep straight sides, above a spherical belly, all supported upon a bell-shaped prominent foot. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in blue and white color, depicted of lotus flowers blooms interspersed foliage and scrolling interlocking tendril. Lotus is one of the most significant flowers in the Chinese culture. It symbolizes the holy seat of Buddha. Because the flower rises from the mud and blooms in exquisite beauty it symbolizes perfection and purity of both the heart and mind.The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground revealed and dark greyish brown spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim.
