MINIATURE PORTRAIT OF A WOMAN.
Probably American, ca. 1839. Young woman dressed i black. Identified on backing paper as "Caroline, first wife of J. __. Died Aug. 1839 after a marriage of two months, aged 19 years". Brass frame with lens on the back (cracked). 2.5"h.
Condition Report: Generally overall good condition. The paint is not worn but does have a rough (or very dry) surface and it looks like there is some light residue down the left facing side. It shows as a faint stain but is shiny if light hits it. The frame is loose but should go back together (front of frame and glass has separated from back half).
