MINIATURE STATUE OF LIBERTY AND CHEF MESNIER CUSTOM MADE STATUE SILICONE MOLD, 20TH CENTURY 20th Century, American, Washington D.C. The two pieces include a silicone mold and Lady Liberty souvenir. The mold was created by impressing both the front and back of the Lady Liberty miniature Chef Mesnier found in a souvenir shop. Once molded, the chocolate Lady Liberty dessert was used during a lunch event at Liberty Island in 1986 for the Reagan family. The base of the miniature is signed Wang Jida 84. Provenance: Private collection of Former White House Pastry Chef Roland Mesnier. First Lady Rosalynn Carter hired Mesnier, who served 26 years under five presidents: Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. According to Creating the Sweet World of White House Desserts: A Pastry Chef's Secrets, Mesnier created stunning desserts for more than 40 queens, kings, princes, princesses and heads of state.
