SERIAL NUMBER: N.S.N. BARREL 40" CALIBER .69 Total production of about 275,000 made of which 172,000 were at Springfield. The lock is stamped Springfield 1852 with eagle. Barrel tang is dated 1845 and breech has V P Eaglehead. Inspectors marks AR over P are on left side of breech. . All metal hardware was finished in the white. Stock is full length walnut. Rifle has correct metal ramrod. CONDITION: Good-Very Good. Metal is soft brown patina with usual age freckles. Stock is very good with handling marks and impressions. No cartouches are visible. , Legends are sharp. Includes correct original bayonet stamped US. A nice complete example of this pre Civil War musket. ANTIQUE.
