MODEL OF SCHOONER "COLUMBIA"
Fully Rigged Wooden Model of the Schooner "Columbia", an American gaff rigged topsail fishing vessel launched in 1923 that was awarded the 1923 International Fisherman's Trophy in Halifax, Nova Scotia as the fastest deep sea fishing schooner in the North Atlantic industry, this c. 1940s model was crafted by Thomas Hornsby of Cheltenham, PA (1908-?), with carved eagle figurehead, metal anchor and movable rudder, on a custom wooden stand with Hornsby's maker's plaque, 42" high, 63" x 7 1/2". Several pieces of detached rigging.
