Title: Meisterstück 149 18K Solid Gold Fountain Pen by Lefèvre
Place Published: France
Publisher:
Date Published: 1980s
Description:

A rare and commanding 149-sized Meisterstück fountain pen, pinstriped, band imprinted "MONTBLANC 18K" with French eagle-head hallmark and Pierre Lefèvre's hallmark with three stars and the initials "PL", domed captop in solid gold without inset star emblem. Piston-filler, striped ink window section. Diplomat-sized 18K gold two-tone 4810 nib, medium, nice flex, has been inked. Excellent condition, with expected fine handling scratches. A lovely and substantial pen, perhaps the quintessential Montblanc.

Before Montblanc began producing its own 149-sized solid gold Meisterstücks in the 1990s, the company commissioned master Parisian jeweler Pierre Lefèvre to create a limited number of these exceptional pens. The quality of work is superb and these masterworks have become highly sought-after collector's items. Lefèvre-made 149's can be distinguished by the jeweler's distinctive hallmark as well as the marvelous solid gold captop dome which does not feature the Montblanc star.
