MOONLIGHT BROWN TROUT DECOY FROM THE SWARTZ & BARON BOOKS
You can find this decoy in Frank Baron’s book on pages 129-30 and Greg Swartz’s Moonlight book on page 159. Very few of these hand carved and painted decoys were produced, as they were apparently difficult to manufacture in quantity. They are thought to have been produced prior to 1928. This example is finished in a Brown Trout pattern, and has six painted, inserted fins, and prominent red gills. The glass eyes are solid and the 3 belly weights retain about half of their original paint with the overall grade being Very Good Plus. Dimensions: 6 - 1/2" L.
