Skull and part of the spine of a large Mosasaur (exact 3D reproduction, made on an original model) with 37 authentic teeth in different sizes plus a Methacrylate base with total measurements of 77x42x40.
Mosasaurus was among the last and largest genera of mosasaurs ever found. The largest known species of this genus is Mosasaurus hoffmanni, which could reach 18 meters in length. 1 Being longer than its American relatives Tylosaurus, 13. 7 meters in length; 2 and Hainosaurus, 12. 2 meters in length. 3 In addition, Mosasaurus was much more robust than tylosaurine mosasaurs of similar length.
Like many mosasaurs, its legs were modified into hydrodynamic fins, the front ones being larger than the rear ones. The skull was more strongly built than in other mosasaurs, since the jaw was articulated very tightly against the skull. It had a broad, barrel-shaped body, and with its large eyes, poor binocular vision, and poorly developed olfactory bulbs, experts believe that Mosasaurus lived near the ocean surface, where it fed on fish, turtles, ammonites, and possibly mosasaurs. More smalls. The animal remained close to the surface and although it was capable of diving, it evidently preferred not to venture into deeper waters.
