M. W. Rutherford (19th Century) British. Study of Two Children, Pastel, Indistinctly Signed by the artist, in a Fine Gilt Composition Frame A beautifully pastel-painted subject. Overall size of the frame is 69 cm x 66 cm x 7 cm and the pastel painting dimensions are 43. 2 x 49. 5cm Condition report. Overall in good original condition, although it appears that there is slight wear over the signature which slightly obscures it. The original gilt frame is in general lovely condition and due to our inability to arrange insurance cover on glass items and antique frames we are unable to insure this painting for shipping. Any painting behind glass is uninsurable for shipping. We will take every care in packing the pastel painting and will lable with glass-fragile labelling as well. The painting is sealed behind a brown paper backing and to remove the glazing will mean cutting this open and removing the aperture and pastel. If the successful bidder would prefer us to do this and send without the glass in situ then we can do this but will require your instructions in writing. Please also note that due to post - Brexit conditions and the current pandemic that delivery time scales can be affected although we always aim to get paintings shipped within 3 days of an auction ending . Once we have dispatched the art we are in the hands of the shipping/delivery company and in some instances there have been delays with shipping into the EU. Shipping times are taking longer than before January 1/2021 and please note that now both customs charges and VAT can be applied by EU countries customs . Please estimate these costs before bidding. We cannot advise or estimate these as they can vary from EU country to country.
