An Unusual Iron Candlestick Modelled with a Design of Shochikubai (Pine, Bamboo and Plum, the 'Three Friends of Winter')
Edo period (1615-1868) or Meiji era (1868-1912), mid-/late 19th century
Cast in two separate sections in the form of a cluster of three stylised pine trees growing around a bamboo node, the shallow drip-pan in the form of a five-petalled plum blossom surmounted by a pricket, the whole raised on three cabriole legs fixed to a lobed stand; signed on the reverse Myochin. 42cm (16¾in) high.
