Heading:
Author:
Title: MYSTERIES WEIRD and STRANGE No. 2
Place Published:
Publisher:Superior [Indicia: Randall Publishers Limited]
Date Published: July, 1953
Description:

CGC certified: Good (2.0). Cream to off-white pages. Cover detached. Cover, scripts and art by uncredited Iger Studio talent. Ruth Roche, editor. NOTE: The title of this mag as listed in the indicia is "Mysteries." The "Weird and Strange" tagline is merely a cover blurb. G. Suarez explains: "Overstreet recognizes the duality of the name by listing it as MYSTERIES (...Weird and Strange).... Since 'Mysteries' all by itself strikes me as a singularly inadequate name, I'll always refer to this comic by what I consider to be its full name." GPAnalysis: No reported sales in this grade. A 3.0 copy sold for $239 in January 2021.

"In issue #2, 'Revenge in Small Form' is... a rather interesting story about a beautiful gold-digger who finds herself at the mercy of voodoo spells cast over the dolls she loves to collect.... The splash to this story contains one of Superior's few bondage scenes. Superior's artists almost never indulge in this mild fetishism; although this story does exhibit their penchant for lingerie and bare leg art!" — George Suarez, Tales To Terrible To Tell #6. NEC: 1992, p. 38.

A limited edition of 150 softcover and 15 hardcover catalogues is available. 400 lots, fully illustrated. Fun reference, great keepsake. Softcover $30, deluxe hardcover with dust jacket and limitation plate $200. Ten of the 15 hardcovers are pre-ordered and the rest will go quickly, so reserve yours now. To order, contact ivan@pbagalleries.com.

Consignments welcome for PBA's December 2021 Comic Book sale. Top prices for Pre-Code Horror, Golden Age, Silver Age, original art and ephemera. Send inquiries to ivan@pbagalleries.com.
