Title: MYSTERIOUS ADVENTURES No. 10
Place Published:
Publisher:Story [Story Comics, Inc.]
Date Published: October, 1952
Description:

CGC certified: G/VG (3.0). Off-white pages. No cover or scripting credits. Art: Hy Fleishman, Doyle Cohen, uncredited others. GPAnalysis: A 3.0 copy sold for $275 in May 2020.

Story is known for shamelessly ripping off EC stories, but occasionally the publisher would swipe from somebody else — in this case, they pilfered Ajax-Farrell's nauseating classic of medical malpractice, "Fatal Scalpel" (see Haunted Thrills #5 in this sale).

"'Blind Fury', by an artist I've never heard of named Doyle Cohen, is about an alcoholic surgeon who butchers an operation on a friend who is also a physician. The patient loses his sight and commits suicide as a result. However, he returns from the dead just in time to perform work of similar quality on his drunken colleague.... If this story sounds familiar, it should. It's very reminiscent of 'Fatal Scalpel,' from Ajax's Haunted Thrills #5." — George Suarez, Tales To Terrible To Tell #5. NEC: 1992, p. 30.

A limited edition of 150 softcover and 15 hardcover catalogues is available. 400 lots, fully illustrated. Fun reference, great keepsake. Softcover $30, deluxe hardcover with dust jacket and limitation plate $200. Ten of the 15 hardcovers are pre-ordered and the rest will go quickly, so reserve yours now. To order, contact ivan@pbagalleries.com.

Consignments welcome for PBA's December 2021 Comic Book sale. Top prices for Pre-Code Horror, Golden Age, Silver Age, original art and ephemera. Send inquiries to ivan@pbagalleries.com.
