This is a blend of sherry seasoned European oak casks and ex-bourbon casks. The use of these two varieties gives Macallan Gold an excellent balance of influences from the brand's house style and influences derived from oak.
Pleasant and refined in character, The Macallan Double Cask smells of fresh hints of citrus fruits and orange peel. Vanilla and dark chocolate balance this and give the Macallan more depth. Notes of citrus and sweet, ginger and cinnamon slowly give way to hints of apple. The finish is malty with a slightly sweet note and finishes dry.
