Very pretty and old napkin dispenser from the 1950s, American diner (fast food bar) item. With coin mechanism for 1 cent that dispenses a small label with a horoscope or fortune. At the back are two square brackets to hold menus. Very rare. A Jewel napkin holder made by F. E. Erickson Co. Inc. of California. Made of chrome and stainless steel, these dispensers featured an image of a fortuneteller, Madam X. For 1 cent the machine would dispense a slip of paper printed with a fortune like the ones shown here. These were commonly used in diners in the 1950s. Approximate size: 6. 5 inches high and 7. 5 inches wide.
