45. 5 x 75 cm without frame, 58 x 88. 5 cm with frame. Oil on canvas, in a gilded wooden frame. - Condition report: Painting subjected to relining. Good state of conservation of the painted surface, there are signs of aging and wear. - Inserted in a balanced seventeenth-century landscape composition, we can see Saint Margaret of Antioch (275 - 290 AD) in prayer as she receives the apparition of the Faith in the form of angels and cherubs who offer him the Cross. In the background an angel chases away the Dragon, symbol of the devil who swallowed her and from whose belly she managed to get out through the cross she was carrying. For this reason Santa Margherita of Antioch is considered the patroness of pregnant women. - This item is sold with a certificate of authenticity with legal validity. - All shipments are handled with professional packaging, the frame is intended as a gift. * Message addressed to non-Italian buyers: Keep in mind that this work has not yet obtained the certificate of free export from Italy from the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage.
