Eighteenth-century painting of excellent quality, depicting the Virgin with Jesus standing over a guardian angel who protects a child afraid of the devil who is coming out of hell. A woman levitates in prayer towards Mary, while two cherubs observe the scene. The painting is in good condition, with normal traces of aging, almost continuous craquelure, original stretcher, old relining of the 20s/30s and antique golden frame, maximum size 62 x 50 cm in total. On the back of the canvas there is a label with catalogue number and remains of a red seal, evidence of important origin. The painting was purchased in a Sicilian auction house.
