Magic the Gathering Artist (n/a-n/a)

[ translate ]

Steve Belledin Magic: The Gathering Black Lotus Illustration Original Art (2016). This hauntingly beautiful work featuring the Black Lotus was created by artist Steve Belledin. The artist notes in his blog Push & Pull that, "This painting wasn't for a new printing of a Black Lotus card and so wasn't going to be for anything that vast playerbase could ever use. The original Black Lotus artist, Christopher Rush, will likely be the only person to ever have seen his version in physical print form. The only other artist to have painted a version, Chris Rahn, at least had his image utilized in Magic: the Gathering Online. My version was going to be a prize painting—a one-off—to be given to a tournament winner at the Eternal Weekend event in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania this coming October [2017]." Belledin notes that illustration was created in oil on hardboard with an image area of approximately 6.75" x 4.5" matted and glass front framed to 15.5" x 13.5". Signed and dated by Belledin. In Excellent condition. Includes COA. From the Jeff Ferreira Collection. HID09710052018 © 2022 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
