Morvi was a princely state in Kathiawar, Gujarat. Under British rule it was part of the Bombay Presidency from the early 19th Century.
Sidney Prior Hall (1842-1922) painted a number of Indian subjects, including another portrait in oils of the Thakur Morvi, which hangs in the Durbar Entrance Hall in Osborne House.
