Inscribed on top of base Mahonri No. 3. Stamped on edge A. Valsuani Cire Perdue. Seal of the noted Paris foundry Valsuani. The foundry also casted sculptures for Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Francois Pompon, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Honore Daumier, Paul Gauguin, Auguste Rodin, Charles Despiau, and more. The piece is in good overall condition. It comes with a painted wood plinth base. For a similar example see Brooklyn Museum, object # 28.422. Mahonri Young was the grandson of Mormon leader Brigham Young.
