Majestic Obelisk In Black Tourmaline Black Tourmaline in Matrix - Height: 340 mm - Width: 138 mm- 7888 g

[ translate ]

Majestic obelisk carved from a single block of black tourmaline, a mineral belonging to the class of cyclic silicates. This mineral is formed through the crystallization of boron within metamorphic and granitic rocks at high temperatures and pressures. Its crystalline structure is composed of direct prisms with flat surfaces parallel to the base, giving a parallelepiped appearance to the stone.
Black tourmaline is a variety of tourmaline that ranges from black to dark brown and sometimes contains traces of the minerals calcium, manganese, and iron. However, inside there are evident inclusions of red/pink colored minerals which create a suggestive contrast with the intense black of the tourmaline.
These mineral inclusions were formed by quartz and feldspar crystals that entered the tourmaline block during its geological formation process, first creating small cavities which were then filled by red/pink colored mineral particles.
The combination of minerals within the black tourmaline obelisk creates a decorative effect of great beauty, adding a touch of charm and refinement to the stone. The obelisk therefore represents a perfect union between the crystalline structure of tourmaline with the exceptional art of sculpture.
