Malachite Stalactites Kolwezi Mine, Kolwezi, Kolwezi Mining District, Lualaba, DR Congo "A cluster of small sparkling green stalactites in more or less parallel growth. A black African man who came to Tucson to sell specimens and dropped by my office first because he needed some money to pay for the freight and brokerage costs to get his stuff from the Airlines. Mr. Kobobo?" - Rock H. Currier If Bisbee is any guide, the caverns that these stalactites come from, have to be mind blowing. In this day of instant photos and selfies, why don't we see more images of where this stuff comes from? Possibly because the locals have just enough bandwidth for phone calls and not enough for big photo files? Possible repair on this one, where the dark area is, and, then again, sometimes these Malachites just have those dark areas: some kind of Manganese mineral. It is rare to see more than one stalactite on matrix and here there are at least four. Mr. Kobobo will be proud, assuming he's still alive after 18 years. It sits upright on a custom acrylic stand. Overall Measurements: 5.1 x 4.7 x 1.8 inches (13.0 x 12.0 x 4.5 cm) Offered at no reserve Provenance: Bought from Mr. Kobobo [RHC #6941, acquired 2001] [Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
