Malenda Trick Chandler, In Homage to Manet

Malenda Trick Chandler (American, 20th/21st), Masked Ball at the Opera, oil on canvas. Signed lower right by the artist, verso inscribed 'In Homage to Manet, Masked Ball at the Opera, Malenda Trick Chandler, 1981. Framed approx. 47.5" x 41.5". Note: Malenda started her own Gallery in Nashville, Tennessee and built it into a profitable enterprise selling her own distinctive work. In 1999 she was discovered by an art licensing agency. Malenda paints with a touch of the old world masters and the 19th century impressionists. She particularly enjoys painting 19th century impressionism. She had the opportunity to learn how to paint in the style of the old masters when the Tennessee State Museum commissioned her to reproduce the works of the great impressionists of the 19th century when the exhibit was showing at the museum. Her aggressive style has bold flowing lines, vibrant colors and stimulating textures that capture the essence of contemporary life. Her style is very distinctive and has often been labeled "Romantic Impressionism.” A natural evolution of her interest in the great impressionists such as Monet, Renoir and Degas, her style incorporates a rich palate of colors and tones that provide real depth to her work. This puts her in great demand by all looking for images for their products. From her whimsical chefs, her still life works that are reminiscent of renaissance art and the great impressionists of the 19th century, to stunning European landscapes, Malenda’s art is prized by owners’ worldwide. Malenda’s portraitures of the prominent include golfer Sam Snead, President George W. Bush, US State Senator and Actor Fred Thompson, US Representative Marsha Blackburn, Tennessee Governors Ned Ray McWherter and Phil Bredesen, Tennessee Titans football team owner, Bud Adams, and country music performers, Vince Gill and Amy Grant.
Malenda’s art is used on products including tapestries, stationary products, calendars, designer bank checks, and tile and stone murals. Malenda has a wide variety of home decor and tabletop products including trays, trivets, and coasters. One of Malenda’s most popular product designs is the “Diva Does . . .” hair brush collection which features three-dimensional divas on premium quality hair brushes for the women that have everything. Her most recent products are Lenox/Dept. 56 Santa figurines “Cheeseburger in Paradise” and “Que Shiraz Shiraz” both of which are quite popular amongst collectors. Malenda was named a Top Ten Licensor by “License!” magazine in 2006. She has displayed her work at the Tennessee State Museum, Tennessee State University, The Renaissance Center in Dickson, Tennessee, International Art Expo in New York City, Biennale Internazionale dell'Arte Contemporanea in Florence, Italy, the Moultrie Georgia Art Center in Atlanta, Georgia, the Chilton County, Georgia Art Museum, near Atlanta and currently creates her art in her Marco Island, Florida studio.
