Malick Sidibé - 15 photos vintages "Soirée Beach Boys"- 1975

[ translate ]

Malick Sidibé - 15 small vintage photos "Beach boys evening" - April 1970
Unique set.
Malick Sidibé's "shirts":
Exceptional museum pieces (similar “Vintage Shirts” are part of the collections of the Center Pompidou in Paris, and the Mo. MA in New York has just acquired some this year.)
This was the reference system used by Malick Sidibé for ordering prints. Most photos of his shirts do not exist in any other form, the prints having not been commissioned and the negatives often not having survived. These photos provide a unique insight into social life in Bamako, Mali, in the 1960s and 1970s.
About vintage prints by Malick Sidibé (excerpt from the “Mali Twist” exhibition at the Fondation Cartier) :
"I displayed [these prints] in front of the studio where the young people met. It was like at the cinema. Some ordered prints without buying them, the most important thing was that the photos were seen. "
Ordered by young Bamako residents dressed in the latest fashion, these prints are the memory of the moments of joy and pleasure when these young people discovered their image magnified by their "friend" Malick Sidibé.
Acquired directly from Malick Sidibé by Olivier Sultan, Director of the Art-Z Gallery (Paris) .
Photos accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
