Malick Sidibé (1936-2016) - Set of 4 unique vintage photos -1973 Silver print - Artist's stamp on the back - 1973 6 cm x 8. 5 cm approximately (each photograph) . This was the reference system used by Malick Sidibé for ordering prints. Most of the photos of his shirts do not exist in any other form, the prints not having been ordered and the negatives often not surviving. These photos provide a unique glimpse into social life in Bamako, Mali, in the 1960s and 1970s. About vintage prints by Malick Sidibé (extract from the exhibition "Mali Twist" at the Fondation Cartier) : "I displayed [these prints] in front of the studio where the young people met. It was like at the movies. Some people ordered prints without buying them, the most important thing was that the photos were seen.
