Impressive, large and heavy Austrian gilt bronze Orientalist bronze group sculpture in the manner of Amie Millet (FRENCH, 1819 -1891) depicting male lion attacking a Moorish man who is on the ground with a dagger as an Bedouin Arab man on horseback is thrusting a spear a the lion. The female lion can be seen attacking the horse. Mounted on red marble base. Marked "MADE IN AUSTRIA" and numbered 1907. Measures approx. 23" height x 19 3/4" width 8 1/4" depth. Dagger blade and spear missing. Arab man's head is slightly shifted. Some minor nicking on base.
