Oil on a wooden panel with a horizontal woodgrain. The panel has a slight horizontal curvature and bows backwards in the frame. There is a split following the woodgrain running horizontally from the right hand side. The split has been reinforced with canvas at the reverse and overpainted. The overpaint in this area has become pale over time. There is also a small split with disruption to the paint layer along the lower edge. Overall the paint layer is in a good condition. The varnish layer is slightly yellowed but even and glossy.
